Dinosaur Tracks / Sand Mountain |
|
This tour is open from the end of October through the end of April, with the majority of the tour being a desert tour (not a lot of shade). Leave SURV for St. George Raceway, approximately twenty minutes from our location. After dropping our trailers at the Raceway, we begin heading southeast towards Herd House, just 0.3 miles from the Arizona Border. We then follow the trail as it does a 180 and begins heading northwest towards Punchbowl Dome and the start of the Warner Valley. After 6 miles, turn and follow trail to the southeast again, 8.7 miles from the turn-off, heading down to Fort Pierce and the Dinosaur Tracks. From this part of the trail Sand Mountain 01W area is visible, as well as the truly unique landscape. After a half-hour lunch break at the Dinosaur Tracks, the trail begins to wind northwest and then north, going around Sand Mountain. There are many trails leading off to the riding areas, but only those who have the tour set up to go to Sand Mountain will use these areas. For those continuing on the trail, it ends up just south of the Hurricane airport. Total miles, 33.4 one-way. Total trip, 3-hours one-way. For the groups optioning to have Sand Mountain included in the tour, we take off west into Sand Mountain 5.7 miles from the Dinosaur Tracks. This tour is guided, but there will be some areas that individuals will be able to play a little on their own. Groups thrill seekers. Nevada is west, Arizona is south, and Utah is north and east. Hour tour for Hell Hole Pass, add another hour and a half for TV Jeep Trails adventure.
